An 18-year-old Oceanside man was killed when his speeding car collided with another car in Vista, authorities said Tuesday.
Two other North County residents were seriously injured in the accident, which occurred at 9:20 p.m. Monday on California 78 near Emerald Drive.
Adam Pritchard, a MiraCosta College student, died after his car, which was traveling at 95 to 100 m.p.h., flipped over, slid through a fence and struck another car on Vista Way, police said.
The accident apparently occurred as Pritchard was trying to make a lane change at the high speed, said Tom Kerns, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
Joseph Ellen Linden, 19, of Oceanside, a passenger in Pritchard’s car, and Juan Galindo, 23, of Vista, the driver of the car Pritchard struck, were taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, Kerns said.
They were in serious condition.
