MOSCOW — Firefighters extinguished a blaze at a Siberian oil tank farm that was started by lightning and spread to 22 acres, the newspaper Izvestia said Friday.
The newspaper said it took firefighters a full day to put out the blaze at the Karkateyevy station, in the Tyumen oil region of western Siberia. There were no injuries.
The Tass news agency said Thursday that the fire began after lightning struck a reservoir at the station Wednesday night. The blaze spread to four of the station’s 24 tanks, Tass said.
