Dave Murphy, a former Simi Valley High football coach, will join Joe Harper’s Cal Lutheran staff as a part-time assistant and will coach the offensive line.
Murphy is one of several coaches Harper has hired to fill out his eight-man staff. Wayne Quigley, an assistant at Calabasas High; Bob Misko, an assistant at Royal High; and Broderick Jackson, an assistant at West Los Angeles College also will be part-time assistants, Harper said.
In six years as Simi Valley coach, Murphy led the school to its only Marmonte League football championship. He had a 21-40-1 record and resigned after the 1989 season. Murphy will share offensive-line responsibilities with Harper.
Murphy will continue to coach the Simi Valley girls’ basketball team and teach at the school.
