Executive Hiring Down 18%: U.S. corporations, hurt by the sluggish economy, are hiring sharply fewer executives than a year ago, but demand for top officers in Europe has risen dramatically as companies gear up to profit from changes there. Hiring of U.S. executives fell 18% while European hiring rose 22% in the second quarter from the 1989 period, according to a study by Korn/Ferry International, a big executive search firm.
