Ethnic Stereotypes in KCAL ‘Dick Tracy’ Cartoon Series
- Share via
A brief reply to the knee-jerks ranting so mindlessly: Who the hell thinks whites are so damned pleased with the grotesque Tracy or any of his weird, and sometimes misanthropic, white compeers?
Wake up, people, these are cartoons! Cartoons are purposeful japes at characteristics, made all the more funny by outsized exaggeration. Cantinflas, as aficionados of that genius will attest, was just as odious, then, as any U.S.-made cartoon that might ever have poked fun at Hispanics. Only the brain-damaged can find injury in this humor.
