WORLD : Jet Crew Foils Soviet Hijacking

MOSCOW — The crew of a Soviet airliner foiled an attempt to hijack the plane to Turkey today--the 12th attempt to take over a Soviet airliner in the last few weeks.
The 23-year-old hijacker from Odessa was overpowered by the crew after he threatened to blow up the TU-134 aircraft with 75 passengers on board if his demands were not met, Deputy Civil Aviation Minister Mikhail Timofeyev said.
