Altadena : Explorer Program Planned
CHP Officer Houston Currie told the Town Council on Tuesday that the department will launch an Explorer Program in September as a means of getting new recruits.
The program is designed to train 16- to 21-year-olds, male or female, in office and field procedures. The 15 applicants selected will serve on a volunteer basis after a week at the CHP Training Academy in Sacramento.
CHP officials say they hope that the explorers will eventually sign up as members of the department.
Interested residents should contact the CHP’s Altadena Patrol Office.
