A burglary suspect from Mexico gave guards at the County Jail the slip Wednesday by exchanging his inmate identification bracelet for one identifying another inmate about to be released, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Frederico G. Valdez, 32, of Tijuana, apparently swapped identification bracelets with a man who had been arrested on a public drunkenness charge, said Sgt. Glenn Revell, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
Valdez presented himself for release around 10 a.m. Wednesday, and officials discharged him, Revell said.
Valdez was still at large Thursday afternoon, Revell said.
