COUNTERPUNCH LETTERS : On Blacks in the Industry
- Share via
Who controls and doesn’t control the Hollywood entertainment industry has created quite a furor (Jim Brown, July 16, and Jack Mathews, July 14). One aspect of this argument that should be highlighted is that the entertainment industry is one of the few in this country showing a profit while keeping thousands on the payroll.
If it’s true that one specific clique runs the show, why not? The name of the game, in any business, is making money.
No one should be foolish enough to think that talent (before or behind the camera) is going to be bypassed because of color or religion. Hollywood management would hire “purple people eaters” if it would garner more coin at the box office. That’s a fact!
