Bogus Kidnap Caller Continues Harassment

A mystery caller who has been harassing San Gabriel Valley women with telephone calls in which he claims to be holding their husbands at gunpoint and demands money for their release struck again Monday morning, Monrovia police said.
Monrovia Police Sgt. Ron Buck said a call received by a woman early Monday matched reports of other calls “right down the line.” Buck said the man claimed to have the woman’s husband tied up and gagged at gunpoint. The caller demanded money for the husband’s return and insisted the woman call him “sir,” he said.
Similar calls have been received by more than 50 women in Altadena, Arcadia, Glendora, La Crescenta, Monrovia, Pasadena and Temple City.
