JAILHOUSE RICHES: Convicted criminals who hope to strike it rich by writing a bestseller about their crimes are prohibited from doing so by state law: All book, television or movie proceeds are diverted to victims or their families. . . . Corrections officials say the law “definitely” applies to the new book by Charles Rothenberg (E1), the man who set his son David on fire in a Buena Park motel room, even though he is no longer in jail. But the point is moot because he is not trying to collect the proceeds.
