Reactions to the Fall of ‘Miss Saigon’

It is ironic that the same issue that reports Mackintosh announcing he will pull “Miss Saigon” (Aug. 9) also reports that Richard Gere will play a Japanese American in a film by Akira Kurosawa. Why aren’t the Asian groups protesting?
What a shame this situation is! Having seen “Miss Saigon” in London, I know the loss will be for theatergoers.
