LAGUNA BEACH : 3 Challengers Enter School Board Race
- Share via
With the extension of the filing deadline for the Laguna Beach school board election, incumbents Susan Mas and Tim Davis are now facing three challengers, including one candidate who was recalled from the board.
The challengers are Carl Schwarz, a Fullerton College political science professor who was recalled in 1987; Eugene Felder, vice president of the Laguna Canyon Conservancy; and Karen Linden, a registered nurse. Incumbent Harvey Triebwasser did not file for reelection.
Schwarz was ousted in a recall election after residents objected to the school board majority’s decision not to fire former Laguna Beach High School football coach Cedrick Hardman, who was arrested on charges of cocaine possession in 1986. The charges were dropped when he successfully completed a drug diversion program.
