Cypress Little Leaguers Win Regional Semifinal

The Cypress Little League all-stars defeated Hawaii, 6-1, in the semifinals of the Western Regional Tournament Friday in San Bernardino. One more victory will put them in the Little League World Series.
Cypress, representing Southern California, was led by Pat Murphy, who hit a two-run double in the second inning for a 2-0 lead. Cypress then scored four runs in the third. Winning pitcher Kerrie Cordoro allowed two hits, struck out 10 and walked none.
Cypress will play Idaho, an 11-6 winner over Nevada Friday, in the championship game at 8 tonight at Houghton Stadium in San Bernardino. The winner advances to the Little League World Series next week in Williamsport, Pa.
