Temple City : Plan to Buy Land Dropped

A $1-million to $2-million price tag has forced the City Council to drop its plan of buying land intended for a mini-mall.
The council had wanted a parking lot instead of a mall on the site at 5919 Oak Ave. At its July 31 meeting, after learning the property owner had obtained all permits and was beginning construction, the council decided to offer to buy the land, or perhaps force a sale through eminent domain.
However, after an executive session Tuesday, the council announced it was unwilling to spend that much money.
