VENTURA : State Funds Sought to Refurbish Pier
- Share via
The Ventura Port District has asked the state to approve a $1.5-million reappropriation for refurbishment of the San Buenaventura Pier.
During the district’s meeting Wednesday, General Manager Richard Parsons said he sent a letter to Gov. George Deukmejian urging favorable consideration of the funds, part of a $2.5-million package that the city of Ventura and the state have earmarked for pier renovation. Refurbishing the pier will cost an estimated $3.7 million, port officials said.
Funding for the project comes from a $1-million grant appropriated last year from the Parklands Fund of 1980 and $500,000 held in trust for the city from the 1987 budget.
