An exclusive South County golf course was ransacked over the weekend with vandals causing about $30,000 worth of damage to golf carts and the playing greens.
Maintenance workers at the Monarch Bay Golf Course arrived at work on Monday morning to find several golf carts strewn around the 18-hole course like so many rag dolls, said officials at the course.
“They dumped them into ponds, creeks and ditches,” said Brian Sullivan, course superintendent. “They used the carts like bumper cars. It was definitely malicious vandalism.”
And while joy riding, the vandals also tore up several greens along the scenic golf course, Sullivan said.
