THE SIDELINES : QB Hagan in Doubt for Saturday

BOULDER, Colo. — Quarterback Darian Hagan’s sprained left shoulder has made him questionable for Colorado’s Big Eight Conference opener at Missouri on Saturday.

“He’s got a significant sprain, a lot of inflammation and a lot of swelling,” Colorado trainer Dave Burton said. “His mobility has been affected.”

Hagan was injured in the fourth quarter of the Colorado-Washington game when he was slammed to the turf by defensive end Andy Mason and nose guard John Cook.

Hagan sat out practice Monday, and Coach Bill McCartney said that if he is unable to practice Wednesday, he cannot play against Missouri.

Just in case Hagan cannot play, McCartney has junior Charles Johnson waiting in the wings. Johnson guided Colorado to five first downs against Washington when he replaced Hagan in the fourth quarter.
