Murdoch to Merge Newspapers: Rupert Murdoch’s debt-laden News Corp. said it would merge four Australian newspapers into two 24-hour publications to avoid shutting down its struggling afternoon dailies. Two of the papers are in Melbourne, the Sun and the Herald, and two are in Sydney, the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mirror.
