RACING NOTES : Harmonious, Columnist Favored in Red Mile Race

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Hambletonian and World-Trotting Derby winner Harmonious has been made the even money favorite with stablemate Columnist for Friday’s Kentucky Futurity at the Red Mile.
The Futurity is the third jewel of trotting’s Triple Crown. The 98th renewal of the race attracted 11 entries.
The entries and odds in post position order: Jeanne’s Somolli, 6-1; Star Mystic, 15-1; Columnist, even; Embassy Lodell, 5-2; MB Elite, 30-1; Cheyenne Spur, 20-1; Harmonious, even; Super Arnie, 9-2; Royal Cold, 30-1; Lender Hanover, 15-1; Drummer Hanover, 20-1.
Nothing Ventured will be gunning for his 10th straight win when he tackles a tough field of eight in the $15,000 Invitational Trot feature tonight at Los Alamitos. The 4-year-old will have a tough test against the vastly improved BH Dynamite and Arnold’s World.
Nothing Ventured, which has won his last nine races, has proven to be unbeatable at Los Alamitos. The 4-year-old has captured three straight races locally over the best trotters on the West Coast while posting faster times in each start.
