World IN BRIEF : AFGHANISTAN : Rocket Kills Seven Rebel Commanders

A rocket fired by Afghan government forces killed seven guerrilla field commanders when it struck the hut where they were meeting, the rebels’ news agency reported. It said the men died in the Rodat district in the eastern province of Nangarhar. Among the victims was Zahid Ibrahimi, provincial commander of the Hizb-i-Islami guerrilla party of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. Hizb-i-Islami is one of the main Pakistan-based guerrilla factions fighting the Soviet-backed Kabul government.
