NEW ORLEANS — Schoolteachers returned to work Monday, ending a three-week strike with a new contract calling for a 7% pay raise over three years.
The agreement was approved by voice vote Sunday night at a meeting of the United Teachers of New Orleans, which represents 4,500 teachers in the state’s largest public school district.
The cost of the package is estimated at $15.7 million over the three years.
