Two officers suffered minor injuries Monday when their patrol car was struck broadside by another car in a South Los Angeles intersection, authorities said.
The officers were en route to a traffic call and were headed west on Slauson Avenue at Western Avenue about 12:05 a.m., police said.
As the police car entered the intersection on a green light it was struck, Lt. Kathleen Murcott said. Both cars careened out of control, one hitting a bus bench and another shearing off a fire hydrant.
The two officers, whose names were not immediately released, were treated at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital in Inglewood for minor injuries and released.
The driver of the other car was treated at the scene by paramedics and released. Two other people were treated for minor injuries at California Medical Center and the County-USC Medical Center. The cause of the accident was under investigation.
