COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Trio of Goals in Second Half Boosts CSUN

Gus Cardenas scored one goal and assisted on another to lead the Cal State Northridge men’s soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo at CSUN on Tuesday night.
After a scoreless first half, the Matadors blew the match open with two goals in a three-minute span of the second half.
Dominic Zapata scored off an assist from Cardenas at the 59-minute mark to give Northridge (5-5-3) a 1-0 lead.
Scott Piri scored at the 62-minute mark and Cardenas scored at the 71-minute mark.
In other soccer matches:
Moorpark 9, Santa Monica 2--Eric Gunter, Richie Rungaitis and Shaun Christensen each scored two goals to lead Moorpark (10-0-0, 5-0-0 in Western State Conference play).
Cal Lutheran 3, Westmont 3--Willie Ruiz scored two goals for visiting Cal Lutheran (9-1-1, 5-1-1) in a District 3 match.
MEN’S WATER POLO
Valley 13, Santa Monica 11--Robert Brown scored four goals and Doug Yocum added three to help the Monarchs (5-6, 1-1) defeat Santa Monica in a WSC match at Santa Monica.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
The Master’s d. Cal State San Bernardino, 4-15, 15-7, 15-9, 15-10--Carla Vande Steeg and Anne Zingleman had 10 kills each to lead the Mustangs (15-12).
Moorpark d. Canyons, 15-9, 18-16, 7-15, 8-15, 15-6--Danielle Larson had 12 kills to lead Moorpark (4-4, 4-4) in a WSC match at home.
Redlands d. Occidental, 15-12, 2-15, 15-13, 11-15, 16-14--Alison Avery had 23 kills but the Tigers (14-8, 2-2) lost the 2 1/2-hour Southern California Intercollegiate Athletics Conference match.
