GARDEN GROVE — Garden Grove High School’s Adrian Ioja--a tight end, linebacker and kicker--scored three of his team’s five touchdowns as the Argonauts defeated Los Amigos, 35-7, Friday night at Garden Grove.
Los Amigos helped Garden Grove (3-3, 2-1) by turning the ball over five times.
Garden Grove quarterback Simon Fuentes hit Ioja with a 40-yard pass for his first touchdown with 9:41 left in the first quarter.
Then, with 9:39 left in the second, Fuentes, under pressure, threw a desperation pass that Ioja caught on one sideline before zig-zagging across the field on a 25-yard touchdown play.
Los Amigos (3-3, 1-2) scored its only touchdown when Ethan Siddall threw a 77-yard pass to Andre Roberson.
Ioja’s third touchdown came on Los Amigos’ third fumble of the game, when Seilala Faamausili lost the ball at the Los Amigos 35-yard line after a reception.
Ioja scooped it up and scored, and added one of his five extra point kicks.
