One of San Dimas’ youngest businessmen is Dave Glasgow, 13, who has turned his hobby of collecting baseball cards into a part-time job at Jim’s Guns & Gold.
Dave opened the card counter two months ago and sells cards at prices ranging from 10 cents to $150. His customers are mostly children, and with beginning collectors, he spends time explaining card values and what cards are hot at the time.
The eighth-grader at Lone Hill Intermediate School has been a collector since 1986 and recommends card collecting as a hobby, if only for its investment value. But Dave plans to earn his living playing baseball.
The Black Physicians of Pasadena have honored their pioneers--members who practiced in Pasadena from 1920 to 1960.
The honorees are Edna Griffin, Adolphus Traylor, Robin Bennett, Robert Nesbitt and Leroy Young.
Young and Bennett still have limited practices. Griffin was the first black woman to practice in Pasadena when she opened her office in 1936.
