L.A. Southwest 22, Ventura 6: Southwest, coming off three consecutive losses, not only held visiting Ventura to six points but intercepted five passes, sacked the quarterback seven times, blocked two passes and recovered a fumble.
Ventura did not score until the fourth quarter. With Matt Brimigion at quarterback, the Pirates moved the ball 60 yards, finally crossing the goal line on a one-yard dive by Tony Williams.
