Harbor 25, West L.A. 21--Vincent Gardner’s interception with 5:57 left set up the winning touchdown in a Western State Conference game at West L.A.
The victory improved Harbor’s record to 3-2 and 2-2 in the WSC. West L.A. fell to 3-2 and 2-2 in the conference.
The Seahawks held a 18-7 halftime lead, but they fell behind midway through the third quarter and trailed until quarterback Glenn Baham ran seven yards for a touchdown, three plays after Gardner’s interception.
Baham also connected with Tim Wagner, a former Rolling HIlls High standout, for a five-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter. The sophomore from Serra High completed 12 of 20 passing attempts for 119 yards. he threw two interceptions and was sacked eight times.
Harbor also scored on a one-yard run by Camron Pitcher and an eight-yard run by Bill Harris.
“We might not have played pretty, but we played hard and that’s important to me,” Harbor Coach Don Weems said.
West L.A.’s Chris Kates returned punts of 99 and 91 yards for touchdowns. Myron Phillips scored the Oilers’ other touchdown on a one-yard run.
