A 16-year-old Cambodian boy was in critical condition after being shot in the head Wednesday in what police believe may have been a gang-related shooting.
A San Diego police spokesman said Soeum Damlong walked into the emergency room of Villa View Hospital after the 6:44 p.m. injury, which occurred in the 4900 block of Imperial Avenue.
Details of the attack were sketchy, but police believe that Damlong was shot by a handgun. The caliber of the weapon was unknown. A police report said the bullet entered behind one ear and exited through the youth’s mouth. He is expected to recover.
Police had no suspects in custody, and the investigation was continuing.
