ANAHEIM : Benefit for Halcyon Center Is Scheduled
- Share via
An evening of dining and entertainment with community leaders will be held tonight to raise funds for the Halcyon family shelter, the only residence for homeless families in Anaheim.
The shelter, which has an 88% success rate in getting families back into homes, according to its sponsors, wants to buy additional facilities next to its 10-unit apartment complex in Anaheim for use as a children’s play area.
The nonprofit shelter relies mostly on volunteer funding. Families are welcome to stay at the center free for up to 180 days, during which they are required to save 80% of their income for future housing.
The $1,500-per-couple event will be held at Caliber Motors in Anaheim Hills, and the car dealership will match each donation with $1,000 of service department credit.
The fund-raiser is scheduled to begin with a reception at 6:15 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m.
