Chapman Defeats Bakersfield in Volleyball

Chapman College, the 12th-ranked Division II women’s volleyball team, defeated sixth-ranked Cal State Bakersfield in a five-game match Thursday that moved the Panthers into first place in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn.
Debi Waller had 25 kills, Rena Strange added 20 kills and Heather Mead had 27 digs as Chapman (19-9, 4-1 in conference) won, 15-13, 10-15, 5-15, 15-5, 15-13, at home. Bakersfield is 13-8, 3-1.
