Isiah Thomas and Bill Laimbeer of the Detroit Pistons underwent surgery during the weekend for injuries suffered in an exhibition game Saturday but are expected to recover in time for the team’s season opener Nov. 2. Thomas had a ruptured tear duct, Laimbeer a broken left cheekbone.
