Pasadena Director Makes It Official, Gets Married

Pasadena City Director Chris Holden took a break from city politics to get married Saturday in Pasadena’s Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Before more than 400 well-wishers, Holden married Michelle Watkins, a loan officer with Mortgage Link in Ontario.

The reception was in Pasadena’s Central Library on Walnut Street. It was the first wedding reception at the newly renovated library, which has begun renting out its space to raise money.

The new bride and Holden, son of Los Angeles City Councilman Nate Holden, are vacationing in Europe for two weeks.

* L. Norman Howe, founder and chief executive officer of F & P Inc., a Pasadena marketing company, has been named a regional winner of the 1990 “Chivas Regal Extrapreneur Awards.”

Howe received the award for raising more than $11 million in the last 11 years for the City of Hope medical treatment center in Duarte by developing grocery store “Coupons of Hope.” Food companies pay for advertising on the coupons, and that money goes to the City of Hope.

The 16 regional awards recognize imaginative public service by those in business. Six winners will be named from among the regional winners at a ceremony in New York in early November.
