Boy Found in Pool Still Hospitalized

TUSTIN — A 13-month-old boy remained in guarded condition at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana on Sunday evening after being pulled from a back-yard swimming pool by his father Saturday.
Gabriel Rodriguez will remain another day in the hospital for observation, said Capt. Dan Young, an Orange County Fire Department spokesman. The Fire Department responded to the accident and helped resuscitate the toddler.
“It appears that he will do fairly well, although he’s still in guarded condition. It’s my understanding that it’s only for observation,” Young said.
The boy was found fully clothed floating in about 4 feet of water at 10:33 a.m. Saturday in the family’s pool in the 17000 block of Chatham Drive.
The parents told Young that the boy apparently had been in the water for two or three minutes before the boy’s father, Deybis Rodriguez, pulled him out.
