American Restaurants’ Quarterly Profit Rises 78%

American Restaurants Corp., extending a recent rebound in earnings, said its third-quarter profit soared 78% from a year earlier on an 18% increase in sales.
The Ventura-based company, which operates Hudson’s Grill and Wendy’s restaurants, said net income in the quarter ended Oct. 1 rose to $264,682 from $148,390, while sales climbed to $7.37 million from $6.23 million. It was the company’s seventh straight increase in quarterly earnings.
For the first nine months of this year, American Restaurants’ net income jumped 58%, to $593,460 from $376,410, and its nine-month sales rose 16% to $21.5 million from $18.6 million.
