6.9 Quake Hits West of Aleutian Islands

ANCHORAGE — A strong earthquake struck west of the Aleutian Islands on Tuesday. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The quake had a magnitude of 6.9, the Alaska Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer reported. It was centered about 150 miles west of Attu Island, about 1,250 miles southwest of Anchorage. Officials said no tsunami would result.
