AND FINALLY: Expect PolyGram to announce its label reorganization plan as early as next week, with up-and-coming exec Ed Eckstine running Mercury Records and newly hired Rick Dobbis heading up PLG Records, which will encompass the Polydor, London and Smash labels. That means Eckstine gets most of PolyGram’s big-name artists, including Bon Jovi, Cinderella, John Cougar Mellencamp, Def Leppard and Robert Cray. PLG will launch with younger bands like LA Guns, Hothouse Flowers and the Wonder Stuff. Watch for record producer Davitt Sigerson to join Dobbis’ label in a key A&R; role.
