A Calabasas man slipped off a cliff near Topanga Canyon Road and fell 150 feet to his death, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Friday.
John Emerson Woodson, 45, and his wife, Linda, were driving north on the winding road about two miles north of Pacific Coast Highway at 5:30 p.m. Thursday when Woodson told his wife to pull to the side, Deputy Britta Rodela said.
“He told his wife he had go to the bathroom,” Rodela said. “When he didn’t return 10 minutes later she looked for him and didn’t find him.”
Linda Woodson drove to a nearby fire station and a search was begun.
A short time later, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Mountain Rescue Team found Woodson’s body at the bottom of the cliff.
Homicide detectives classified the death as accidental, Rodela said.
