LOCAL : Man Killed Crossing Freeway

A man involved in a minor traffic accident was struck and killed on the San Diego Freeway this morning as he tried to run across the highway after reporting the mishap on an emergency call box, authorities said.
Lmanyeo Darnell Scott, 23, of Corona was hit by another car as he attempted to cross the car-pool lane on the freeway near the Costa Mesa Freeway interchange.
Scott ran across northbound lanes, jumped the center divider and then crossed southbound lanes to reach the call box. Police said Scott was told that a police car would pick him up at the call box and was directed not to cross back over the 10 lanes of the highway on foot, but he apparently ignored the advice.
The driver of the car that collided with Scott was injured slightly and was not cited.
