Nellcor Announces Layoffs: The Hayward-based company said it is moving all manufacturing operations to Chula Vista near San Diego, a move that will result in the layoffs of 160 of its Hayward employees. The move by the manufacturer of hospital patient monitoring equipment will complete a shift of manufacturing capacity to the San Diego-Tijuana area that the company began four years ago. The company has a Tijuana maquiladora plant employing 450 workers where the disposable parts of its instruments are assembled. Nellcor will soon move into a new facility in Chula Vista, but its headquarters will remain in Hayward.
