Countywide : Panels to Focus on Medicare, Insurance

A series of hourlong forums addressing consumer rights and the problems and issues involved in Medicare and long-term insurance coverage will be sponsored by the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy program.
The free discussions will deal with changes in Medicare coverage for the new year and ways that senior citizens and their families can make decisions about insurance policies and health-care expenses.
The Counseling and Advocacy Program is a nonprofit organization designed to provide assistance in coping with Medicare and health insurance. It is funded by the county Department of Aging.
The first of the discussions will be held today at the Laguna Hills hospital, 24552 Pacific Park Drive in Laguna Hills from 1 to 2 p.m. On Monday, , representatives from the program will answer questions at Republic Savings & Loan, 2400 E. 17th St. in Santa Ana, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. And on Wednesday, representatives will be at the Dana Point Senior Center, 34052 Del Obispo St. in Dana Point, from noon to 1 p.m.
