PREP ROUNDUP : Harris’ Unassisted Goal Propels Los Alamitos

Julie Harris scored an unassisted goal with eight minutes remaining in the first half to give Los Alamitos High School a 1-0 victory over visiting South Torrance in a nonleague girls’ soccer game Thursday.
Los Alamitos was ranked No. 8 in the Division 4-A preseason poll; South Torrance was ranked No. 2 in the Division 3-A poll. Kathy Skoglund had two saves for Los Alamitos (2-1).
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
Newport Harbor 1, Santa Margarita 0--Bridget Doyle scored a second-half goal for host Newport Harbor (3-0-1).
Capistrano Valley Christian 4, Laguna Beach 2--Megan Mahlstadt and Katie Bell each scored twice to lead host Capistrano Valley Christian (2-0).
Villa Park 6, Savanna 1--Joanna Garfein scored two goals in the first half to give Villa Park a 2-1 lead. Elizabeth Green, Jessica Checo, Carrie Cebula and Jen Fitzmaurice scored in the second half.
Rosary 3, Katella 0--Jennifer Schulte had two goals and Rae Schilling had one for Rosary (4-1-1).
In boys’ nonleague soccer:
Santa Margarita 1, Laguna Beach 0--Oscar Mestre scored 20 minutes into the second half for visiting Santa Margarita (3-0).
Huntington Beach 3, Los Alamitos 0--Adam Norgan, Chris Wright and Jeff Baker each scored goals and Dean Syrengelas assisted on each of the goals for visiting Huntington Beach (1-0-1).
In nonleague wrestling:
Brea-Olinda 60, Sonora 15--Jason Harmon won by pin in 31 seconds at 119 pounds for Brea-Olinda (5-2).
