Walsh’s Passing Powers Carson Past Granada Hills : City Section 4-A: He throws for 330 yards and four touchdowns to set up showdown with Banning.

Behind quarterback John Walsh, Carson routed Granada Hills, 57-13, Friday night in a semifinal game of the City Section 4-A Division playoffs.
Carson will play Wilmington Banning, a 21-20 winner over Dorsey, in the championship game next Friday night.
Walsh, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound senior, passed for 330 yards and four touchdowns and sparked a second-half surge that blew open a seven-point game.
With Carson (11-1) leading, 14-7, Walsh connected with receiver Latario Rachal from 12 yards to give Carson a 20-7 lead with 8:27 left in the third quarter. The Highlanders (10-2) never recovered.
On Granada Hills’ first play from scrimmage after the ensuing kickoff, Highlander quarterback Bryan Martin’s pass over the middle was intercepted by defensive back Tarriel Hopper, who went 35 yards for a touchdown.
Carson added a 24-yard field goal by Aaron Villarreal with 4:34 to play in the third quarter before putting the Highlanders away for good.
On first down from the Granada Hills 46, linebacker Marcus Long returned Martin’s pass 40 yards for a touchdown and a 36-7 lead.
