Louis Kievman; Classical and Jazz Violist

Louis Kievman, 80, classical and jazz concert and recording violist with the Musical Arts String Quartet, New Friends of Rhythm and the Stuyvesant Quartet. Educated at the Institute of Musical Art, which later merged with the Juillard School of Music, Kievman was a charter member of the NBC Symphony Orchestra under Arturo Toscanini. After moving to Los Angeles during World War II, Kievman wrote extensively for publications such as Strad magazine on the restoration and preservation of stringed instruments. On Dec. 4 in Pacific Palisades of pancreatic cancer.
