I really enjoyed “Milton Loves Lucy” (Nov. 27, Channel 11). It was a treat watching the King and Queen of TV comedy cavorting together not once, but twice, when Channel 11 also ran the “Milton Berle Hides Out at the Ricardos” hour.
As author of The “I Love Lucy” Book (Doubleday), I must correct something Mr. Berle said in an interview in TV Times (Nov. 25) about his work with Lucille Ball. He recalls having “guested on ‘I Love Lucy’ about nine times.” It would have been great, of course, but in those early days of TV, Uncle Miltie was under an exclusive contract to NBC and couldn’t appear on “Lucy” during her half-hour venue. He never appeared on any of 179 “I Love Lucy” episodes.
If he did, boy is that film worth something!
