Trustees of the Mesa Union Elementary School District in Somis have elected Trustee Karen A. Stearns to serve a one-year term as board president.
Stearns has served on the board of the 360-student, one-school district since 1981. Trustees also elected Ruth Smith, a board member since 1988, as board vice president. Board member Fred J. Ferro, who won a seat on the board last month, was chosen as clerk of the board.
Patricia Fontes, who won election to a second term in November, was chosen as district representative to the Ventura County School Boards Assn.
Ferro, Fontes and new board member Barbara Tweedy Patten also were sworn into office at this week’s board meeting.
