FISHING REPORT : Unexpected Gift Leaves Lake Piru Full of Trout
- Share via
Lake Piru was the recipient of three extra trout plants last Friday, thanks to icy roads that prevented Department of Fish and Game hatchery trucks from making their usual rounds to other locations.
“They had to get rid of them and they couldn’t get anywhere else,” a lake spokesman said. “We got 1,000 trout on each plant. And they’re beautiful fish, all between a pound and a pound-and-a-half.”
The Ventura County Reservoir had already received its biweekly allotment from the DFG’s Fillmore hatchery earlier last week and fishermen are reporting limits taken from the east end of the lake.
