ANAHEIM — Jason Bowman’s 13-foot jump shot with 18 seconds remaining helped Inglewood High School to a 62-59 upset over Servite in the first round of the Katella Klassic Thursday night at Katella High School.
Servite’s Adam Anderson put the Friars ahead, 59-58, with 40 seconds to play after he rebounded a Friar miss and scored on a five-foot bank shot for the last of his 17 points.
After Bowman (22 points) connected to give the Sentinels (7-6) a 60-59 lead, Servite’s last chance went awry when Inglewood’s Codi Evans (20 points) stole the ball from Eddie Rubio and made two free throws with three seconds left.
Servite (8-3) made 20 of 29 shots (69 percent) in the first three quarters, but went cold in the final period, making four of 14 attempts (29 percent).
