Oil: Light crude settled at $21.34 per barrel, down 20 cents, on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Dow Industrials: The 30 industrials slipped back 5.70 to 2,730.69, but gained 71.28 for the week.
Credit Markets: Bond prices shot upward in heavy volume following release of economic reports showing thousands without work and a further decline in manufacturing.
Metals: Gold added 30 cents to settle at $366.10 an ounce on the New York Commodity Exchange.
Currency: The dollar took a pounding overseas and continued to relinquish ground in domestic dealings.
