Talking Pictures: The nation’s movie exhibitors gather at Bally’s Hotel in Las Vegas todaythrough Thursday for the annual ShoWest convention, where war and economic jitters are expected to surface during discussions of moviegoing and previews of upcoming films. Sponsored by the National Assn. of Theater Owners, the convention will draw more than 3,500 representatives from theater chains, movie studios and related industries, as well as a contingent of movie exhibitors from 17 nations. One theme will be the globalization of the movie business. Andy Garcia of “The Godfather Part III” and Julia Roberts of “Pretty Woman” and “Flatliners” will be honored Thursday as the stars of the year.
